Film fans in Kendal can see standard cinema screenings for £4 at Brewery Arts on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September, as the venue joins a nationwide celebration of the big screen.

The offer is part of National Cinema Weekend, a two-day event organised by Cinema First. Brewery Arts said the celebration is designed to encourage audiences to enjoy films in cinemas, where they can experience the big screen, immersive sound and the shared atmosphere of watching with others.

What is showing at Brewery Arts?

There is a broad selection of films to choose from across the weekend. Audiences can follow an epic adventure in The Odyssey, return to the action with Spider-Man: A Brand New Day, or watch the music documentary James: Getting Away With It.

The programme also includes the comedy Lady, alongside other films screening throughout the two-day event. Brewery Arts says the line-up gives local audiences the chance to catch up with one of the summer’s major releases, discover something new, or enjoy music on the big screen.

All standard screenings on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September are priced at £4. The venue is encouraging customers to check its cinema listings and book in advance. The special price does not apply to The Terminator Double Bill.

National Cinema Weekend expands a popular cinema promotion

National Cinema Weekend builds on the success of National Cinema Day, which first launched in 2022. That earlier event attracted 1.46 million admissions in one day, rising to 1.56 million admissions in 2023.

In 2026, the promotion has been extended across a full weekend. More than 530 cinemas around the UK are taking part, giving audiences two days to plan a visit rather than limiting the offer to a single day.

“Following the success of National Cinema Day, we’re excited to be extending the celebration to the entire weekend, giving cinemagoers greater flexibility to plan their visits, and the opportunity to watch the widest possible range of films, suiting all tastes.”

Phil Clapp, chief executive of the UK Cinema Association and director of Cinema First, said the organisers were pleased that so many cinemas were supporting the event and looked forward to welcoming audiences on 5 and 6 September.

For Brewery Arts customers, the weekend offer covers the venue’s standard cinema screenings. Residents planning to attend can explore the Brewery Arts cinema programme and reserve £4 tickets for the selected dates, bearing in mind the stated exclusion for The Terminator Double Bill.
