Brewery Arts in Kendal is joining forces with Fell Brewery in a new partnership that will bring refreshed bar spaces, new branding and a stronger focus on local beer to the venue this August.

Announced on 30 July 2026, the collaboration brings together Kendal’s arts centre and the independent brewery, which is based in Flookburgh. Fell Brewery already has bars in Kendal and Penrith, as well as three locations in Manchester, and is known for combining modern brewing ideas with Northern brewing traditions.

What visitors can expect at Brewery Arts

The partnership launches alongside Summer Sundays, Brewery Arts’ annual programme of outdoor live music events running throughout August. Ahead of the events, Fell’s team has refreshed both the Malt Room and Foyer Bars.

The Foyer bar will have a refurbished look, while the Malt Room Bar will receive a full Fell takeover. Brewery Arts said the Malt Room changes were returning “by popular demand”.

Both bars will be open across all five Summer Sundays. Three additional serving points will also operate, giving visitors five places to buy drinks across the venue. The expanded arrangement is intended to help make this year’s festival the biggest yet.

A partnership built around local links

Michael Dixey, managing director at Fell Brewery, said the partnership reflected the brewery’s South Cumbrian roots and Brewery Arts’ role in Kendal’s cultural and community life.

“We’re delighted to be partnering with Brewery Arts, a venue that plays such an important role in Kendal’s cultural and community life. As a South Cumbrian brewery, this feels like a natural collaboration, bringing together local beer, creativity and shared values in one of the town’s best-loved spaces.”

He added that the new Fell x Brewery Arts bar branding would help the brewery reach a wider audience while supporting a venue that attracts visitors from across Cumbria and beyond. Dixey also said sustainability and community were central to Fell’s approach, describing the partnership as intended to be meaningful, local and long term.

Cate Bentley, operations director at Brewery Arts, said the organisation was delighted to be working with Fell Brewery. She thanked Watson, Ben and the venue’s new head of hospitality, Matt Freeman, for helping bring the collaboration together quickly.

“Championing local is our passion and it’s a privilege to work with such amazing partners.”

More activity planned beyond August

The arrangement is not limited to Summer Sundays. Fell beers are expected to have a greater presence across Brewery Arts after the August events, with further activity between the two organisations also planned.

Visitors are being encouraged to visit Brewery Arts during August to see the refreshed spaces, sample Fell beer and experience the new partnership. The venue is also inviting customers to book a table.
