South Lakes Housing residents will be able to apply for free construction training through a partnership involving Kendal College, CIDORI and Auxicia, with the course starting on 16 November 2026.
The fully funded opportunity is intended to help eligible residents develop practical skills, build confidence and move towards employment, apprenticeships or further education. Funding has been secured specifically for the community, according to South Lakes Housing.
Who can apply?
The Construction Skills Level 1 course is open to residents aged 19 and over who are unemployed, receiving benefits or on a low income. The training will be delivered online through tutor-led sessions, allowing participants to study remotely while receiving structured support.
What the course includes
- Health and safety training for construction sites
- A funded two-year CSCS Green Card, subject to passing the relevant test
- Personal development and resilience support
- Online tutor-led delivery
- A guaranteed interview or support with recruitment opportunities
The programme is designed to provide more than technical training. South Lakes Housing said the initiative forms part of its ongoing commitment to helping residents develop skills, strengthen their confidence and access meaningful work.
Residents interested in taking part, or wanting more information, can scan the QR code included in the original announcement or contact Nicola Arnold at CIDORI by emailing [email protected].
The partnership is encouraging eligible residents to use the opportunity to gain recognised construction skills and take steps towards employment, an apprenticeship or further education.
