Free face-to-face dementia support clinics are returning to Kendal this month, giving families and anyone affected by the condition an opportunity to receive specialist advice at Nationwide’s local branch.

The sessions will take place on Tuesday, September 15. Nationwide is partnering with Dementia UK to bring Admiral Nurses to the branch for private appointments covering practical and emotional support.

Advice on symptoms, diagnosis and what comes next

People attending can discuss concerns about symptoms, getting a diagnosis and understanding how dementia may progress. The clinics are intended for anyone affected by the condition, including families seeking support.

Lesley Potter, an Admiral Nurse at Dementia UK, said the team was returning to Kendal to support local families.

“We’re looking forward to returning to Kendal to offer support and advice to families affected by dementia in the area. “Since the launch of our clinic programme, in partnership with Nationwide Building Society, we have been able to support thousands of people across the country with the lifeline of an Admiral Nurse, helping to ensure no one faces dementia alone.”

How to book a Kendal appointment

Appointments can be booked through Dementia UK. The clinics form part of a nationwide project funding 30 specialist nurses across more than 230 Nationwide branches.

Nationwide said its partnership with Dementia UK had already helped more than 30,000 people. Charlotte Kensett, the building society’s director of customer experience and social impact, said the support reflected the organisation’s aim of strengthening the communities it serves.

“Dementia impacts millions of families and that’s why we’re incredibly proud to have brought life-changing support into 230 of our branches and helped more than 30,000 people through our partnership with Dementia UK.”
