South Lakes Housing residents could gain a nationally recognised qualification and support into work through a free Teaching Assistant Level 2 course beginning on 11 January 2027.
The fully funded programme is being offered through a partnership between Kendal College, CIDORI and Auxicia. Funding has been secured specifically for the community, with the initiative designed to help eligible adults develop skills, build confidence and move towards employment, apprenticeships or further education.
What the Kendal course offers
The course is aimed at residents interested in working in schools or supporting children and young people. It will be delivered online through tutor-led sessions and leads to an NCFE Level 2 qualification.
Alongside the formal training, participants will receive help with CVs, interviews and job applications. The programme is also supported by employers and local job opportunities, according to South Lakes Housing.
