Five activists were removed from James Cropper plc’s annual shareholder meeting in Kendal after protesting over the company’s links to military aircraft.
Members of Paper Not Planes disrupted the meeting at the J36 Conference Centre on Wednesday, September 9. Six members of the group, who hold shares in the business, joined the meeting and delayed proceedings by questioning the board and directors. Five were subsequently removed.
Protest outside the venue
More than 30 activists from Kendal, Lancaster and across Cumbria also demonstrated outside the conference centre.
The protest comes as James Cropper plc faces continuing pressure from Palestine solidarity campaigners. The campaigners have raised concerns about the company’s involvement in supplying advanced materials for Israel’s F-35 warplanes over the past two-and-a-half years.
The meeting was held by the Kendal company as its annual shareholder gathering. No further action or response from the company was included in the supplied report.
