Kendal Music Festival is set to bring two days of free live music, food and community celebrations to Brewery Arts on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 September.
The festival runs from midday until 9pm on both days and is organised by Kendal BID. It will bring together musicians and artists from Kendal and the surrounding area, with the event designed to spotlight local talent while supporting venues and businesses in the town.
Music across the Brewery Arts venues
On Friday, performances will take place in the Brewery Arts Bar, with three bands scheduled across the afternoon and evening. On Saturday, the festival will move outdoors to the Brewery Arts Garden. If the weather is unsuitable, the Saturday programme will relocate to the Malt Room.
Food and drinks will be available to purchase throughout the festival. Visitors do not need to reserve a table, and food reservations are not required.
Who is playing?
Friday’s programme begins with local Cumbrian singer-songwriter Tom Owen from 2.30pm to 3.30pm. Bristol-based country-pop-rock performer Rhiannon Paige follows from 4pm to 4.45pm.
Kendal-based musician and songwriter Sarah Carey is scheduled to perform from 7.30pm to 8pm. She is known for acoustic and punk performances, original music and her contribution to the Cumbrian live music scene. Rising indie-folk singer-songwriter and guitarist Freyja Evelyn will then perform from 8.20pm to 9.30pm, drawing on Scandinavian, English and Irish folk influences.
Saturday’s line-up starts with Lancaster-based indie folk rock band Hiroshima Twinkie from 2pm to 4pm. The four-piece Life In Neon will perform indie pop-rock from 4.45pm to 6.15pm.
The day’s final act is The Peloton, an eight-piece indie and ska band from Lancaster, performing from 7pm to 9pm. Its sound combines ska, jazz, reggae and indie pop, alongside original tracks and ska covers.
Free entry and timings
Organisers are inviting residents and visitors to use the festival as an opportunity to discover new artists, meet friends and enjoy a free day out while celebrating Kendal’s live music scene.
Entry to Kendal Music Festival is free and no booking is required. The organisers say the line-up and timings are subject to change.
