Kendal Pride is extending its celebrations into the festive season with its first Christmas party and a planned appearance in Kendal’s official Christmas lights switch-on procession.
The Big Pride Christmas Party will be held at The Venue at Bowness Bay Brewery on Saturday November 28. The event follows Kendal Pride’s sell-out summer event and will be held entirely indoors, meaning the number of tickets available will be limited.
What to expect at the Kendal Pride party
Entertainment will include performances from drag queen Miss Gendered and drag king Andi Blewitt, alongside music and dancing. Organisers also say the evening will include fun and games.
Doors open at 7pm, with entertainment starting at 8.15pm. The celebrations are scheduled to continue until 1am.
Pride presence in Kendal beyond June
Members of the Pride community will take part in Kendal’s official Christmas lights switch-on procession earlier in the evening, before the party begins.
Kendal Pride chair Sally Lofthouse-Jones said the organisation’s year had included several firsts, including its first procession and the launch of First Fridays. She said the Christmas party was intended to ensure the Pride community and its presence were felt in Kendal beyond June.
