Kendal Rugby Union Football Club has opened a new senior-team record archive spanning more than a century, putting Glenn Chesher and Hayley Hodgson at the centre of two historic milestones for the club.
Chesher is recorded as Kendal’s leading First XV appearance-maker after playing 243 matches. Hodgson leads the club’s recorded Wasps points table with 734 points. The records were published on 23 August 2026 and updated the following day.
The archive is designed to give current players, former members and supporters a single reference point for Kendal Rugby Club’s history. It brings together senior-team appearance and scoring information from different stages of the club’s development.
Chesher leads First XV appearances
The published First XV appearance table covers the period from 1905 through to the end of the 2025 season. Chesher’s 243 appearances place him three matches ahead of Matt Houghton, who is listed on 240.
Alistair Thompson is third with 200 appearances, followed by Reece Tomlinson on 183 and Dini Noyo on 157. The table includes long-serving Kendal club members as well as players from more recent senior sides.
Houghton also appears among the leading First XV scorers, but Aaron Stephens tops that list with 361 points from 78 appearances. His total includes 12 tries, nine conversions and 53 penalties.
Houghton is second on 320 points and Noyo is third on 295. Evan Moir is listed on 227 points from 25 appearances, including 16 tries, three conversions and two penalties. Ollie Rose completes the published leading scorers with 140 points from 42 appearances.
Wasps figures may still change
The Wasps records cover the 2013/14 campaign through to the 2025/26 season. Aimee Sharp is the leading recorded appearance-maker with 125 matches, followed by Sarah Wilkinson on 110. Hodgson is third in the appearance table with 109 matches.
Hodgson’s recorded 734 points comprise 140 tries and 17 conversions. Wilkinson is second in the points table with 270 points, followed by Tamar Benson on 253.
The club has warned that some women’s-team figures remain provisional while research continues. The Wasps archive combines entries from the team’s first listed campaign in 2013/14 with newer material from the 2025/26 season, meaning further historical research could alter some of the published totals.
Unless additional research changes the figures, Chesher’s 243 First XV appearances and Hodgson’s recorded 734 Wasps points remain the headline milestones in Kendal Rugby Club’s newly published records.
The archive provides a foundation for recognising the club’s leading players and continuing to develop its historical record, while giving supporters one place to follow senior-team appearances and scoring achievements.
