Kendal Rugby Club has brought more than a century of senior-team history together in a new record archive, revealing Glenn Chesher as the club’s leading First XV appearance-maker and Hayley Hodgson as the top recorded points scorer for the women’s Wasps team.

Chesher is listed with 243 First XV appearances, while Hodgson has 734 recorded points. The club has cautioned, however, that some figures for the women’s team remain provisional as historical research continues.

Chesher leads a century of First XV appearances

The published men’s appearance table covers matches from 1905 through to the end of the 2025 season. Chesher’s total puts him three matches ahead of Matt Houghton, who is credited with 240 appearances.

Alistair Thompson is third on 200 appearances, followed by Reece Tomlinson on 183 and Dini Noyo on 157. The list brings together long-serving club members and players from more recent senior sides, reflecting the changing teams and competition across Kendal’s history.

Aaron Stephens tops the men’s scoring table

Chesher’s appearance record is separate from the men’s First XV scoring list, which is led by Aaron Stephens. He has 361 points from 78 appearances, made up of 12 tries, nine conversions and 53 penalties.

Houghton is second with 320 points and Noyo third with 295. Evan Moir is listed on 227 points from 25 appearances, including 16 tries, three conversions and two penalties. Ollie Rose completes the leading men’s scorers with 140 points from 42 appearances.

Hodgson leads the recorded Wasps points

The women’s Wasps records cover the 2013/14 campaign through to the 2025/26 season. Aimee Sharp is the leading recorded appearance-maker with 125 matches, followed by Sarah Wilkinson on 110. Hodgson is third in that table with 109 appearances.

Hodgson’s 734 points comprise 140 tries and 17 conversions. Wilkinson is second on 270 points, with Tamar Benson third on 253.

The club’s warning about the women’s records is significant because the archive combines entries from the Wasps’ first listed campaign in 2013/14 with newer information from the 2025/26 season. Further research could therefore alter some of the published totals.

The archive was published on 23 August 2026 and updated on 24 August. It is intended to provide current players, former members and supporters with a single reference point for senior-team appearances and scoring achievements.

Unless later research changes the figures, Chesher’s 243 First XV appearances and Hodgson’s recorded 734 Wasps points remain the headline milestones in Kendal Rugby Club’s new historical record.
