Kendal Rugby Union Football Club has opened its record books to publish a detailed history of senior-team performances stretching across more than a century. Glenn Chesher leads the published First XV appearance table with 243 matches, while Hayley Hodgson is the leading recorded points scorer for the Wasps with 734 points.

The records were published on 23 August 2026 and updated the following day. The club said they are intended to give current players, former members and supporters a reference point for Kendal Rugby Club’s history.

The archive brings together information from different periods, but the club has warned that the women’s team statistics may not yet be complete. Further research or the discovery of additional historical material could therefore change some of the published totals.

Glenn Chesher leads First XV appearances

The published First XV appearance records run from 1905 through to the end of the 2025 season. Chesher is listed with 243 matches, putting him three appearances ahead of Matt Houghton, who has 240.

Alistair Thompson is third in the table with 200 appearances, followed by Reece Tomlinson on 183 and Dini Noyo on 157. The list includes long-serving Kendal club members alongside players from more recent senior teams.

Houghton also appears among the leading First XV scorers. Aaron Stephens tops that table with 361 points from 78 appearances, made up of 12 tries, nine conversions and 53 penalties. Houghton is second with 320 points, while Noyo is third with 295.

Evan Moir is listed with 227 points from 25 appearances, including 16 tries, three conversions and two penalties. Ollie Rose completes the published leading scorers with 140 points from 42 appearances.

Wasps records remain subject to research

The Wasps records cover the 2013/14 campaign through to the 2025/26 season. Aimee Sharp is the leading recorded appearance-maker with 125 matches, followed by Sarah Wilkinson with 110. Hodgson is third in the appearance table with 109.

Hodgson leads the recorded Wasps points table with 734 points from 140 tries and 17 conversions. Wilkinson is second with 270 points, followed by Tamar Benson on 253.

Kendal Rugby Club said the Wasps information combines entries from the team’s first listed campaign in 2013/14 with newer material from the 2025/26 season. Downloadable documents now include Wasps appearance and scoring records, alongside combined First XV appearance and scoring tables covering the period from 1905 to 2026.

The publication gives the club a foundation for recognising leading players and developing its historical archive. Unless further research changes the figures, Chesher’s 243 First XV appearances and Hodgson’s recorded 734 Wasps points are the headline milestones in the newly published records.
