Royal Northern Sinfonia will bring its festive programme to Kendal Parish Church on Saturday 28 November, offering local audiences an evening of string orchestra music performed in the glow of candlelight.

The Kendal concert is part of a winter tour that will also visit St Cuthbert’s Church in Carlisle on Thursday 3 December. The ensemble will perform a programme of string orchestra favourites, giving audiences the chance to hear established works in a church setting.

Programme for the Kendal concert

The music will include Mendelssohn’s String Symphony No 2, Walton’s Sonata for Strings and Dvořák’s Serenade for Strings.

The performance will be directed from the violin by Jonathan Stone. The visit forms part of Royal Northern Sinfonia’s wider festive programme, with Kendal and Carlisle included on the ensemble’s tour schedule.
