The Westmorland County Show will return to Lane Farm in Crooklands on Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 September 2026, offering Kendal residents and visitors two days of livestock, food, rural entertainment and countryside displays.
The showground is just off the A65 near Kendal at Westmorland County Showground, Lane Farm, Crooklands, LA7 7NH. Gates will be open from 8am to 6pm on both days, with free on-site parking available.
What to expect at the show
The event marks the 227th year of the Westmorland County Agricultural Society’s celebration of farming, food and rural life. The society was founded in 1799, and the show now attracts more than 30,000 visitors each year.
Livestock remains at the centre of the programme. Cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, alpacas, and heavy and light horses will appear in the rings for competitive judging. Visitors can also see dog shows, forestry displays and traditional Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling.
Across the two days, farmers from Cumbria and beyond will compete for top honours in cattle, sheep and equine classes. The programme also includes rural craft demonstrations, the Women’s Institute Marquee and more than 400 trade stands, featuring everything from country clothing to farm machinery.
New Westmorland Hub and returning Rugby 7s
New for 2026 is the Westmorland Hub, a space for guest speakers and open discussions running throughout both show days. Planned contributors include Herdy UK, the NFU and RABI, with sessions covering farming life and the future of the countryside.
Rugby 7s will return to the main ring on Wednesday afternoon after its debut at last year’s show. Organisers describe it as a fast-paced competition with local rivalry and a spectator-friendly atmosphere.
Food, tickets and practical information
The Food Hall is expected to be a major attraction, with locally sourced bread, jam, chutney, cakes, gin, meat and fish among the products on offer. Visitors can buy food to take home or eat at the show.
Under-fives can attend for free, while carer tickets are available on request. The show’s location makes it accessible from Kendal and the wider Lake District, whether visitors are staying in town or travelling through the area.
Organisers recommend allowing plenty of time to explore the site and advise visitors to come prepared for a rural event. Full ticket information and event details are available at westmorlandshow.co.uk.
