Residents and visitors can once again use the Fell Street public toilets in Barrow after Westmorland and Furness Council completed a major refurbishment of the town-centre facilities.
The upgraded male, female and accessible toilets are now fully open. The council said the work was designed to create a brighter, safer and more welcoming environment for people using Barrow town centre.
What has changed at Fell Street
The refurbishment included new windows and doors, upgraded cubicles, improved electrics and a full redecoration.
The scheme was funded through the council’s capital programme. It forms part of the authority’s wider commitment to improving town-centre facilities and supporting Barrow’s ongoing regeneration.

Town Hall toilets remain available
Barrow Town Hall toilets were made available for public use while the Fell Street facilities were closed. Westmorland and Furness Council has decided to continue that arrangement, with the Town Hall facilities available during the building’s normal opening hours.
The council said it continues to invest in infrastructure and services intended to support communities and improve the everyday experience of residents and visitors across the Westmorland and Furness area.
