Kendal Rugby Union Football Club has yet to confirm what happened at a volunteer maintenance day planned for its Mint Bridge base, leaving members, supporters, club families and local residents without a clear account of whether the work took place.
The session was scheduled to begin at 10am on Saturday 8 August as part of preparations for the 2026/27 campaign. But an update published on 24 August and updated on 25 August said the club had not established publicly whether volunteers arrived, what work was completed or whether more help was needed at the ground.
What work was planned at Mint Bridge?
The appeal covered the clubhouse and wider Mint Bridge facilities. Volunteers were asked to clear and tidy the kit room and container, paint, complete repairs and clean inside the clubhouse.
Other planned jobs included general tidying, sorting and organising archived collections. Specialist maintenance experience was not required, although the appeal did not include a detailed list of specific skills that could have been useful.
Because the club has not published an outcome, it is not known which tasks, if any, were completed. The available information also does not give a confirmed account of the facilities’ condition before the campaign or say whether maintenance work remains outstanding.
Who could take part?

Those who took part were promised a lunchtime thank-you consisting of a beer, a small wine or a soft drink, together with a burger. The offer followed an earlier Saturday gathering described by the club as having an excellent turnout, although no attendance figure was provided.
