A new historical archive from Kendal Rugby Club has identified Glenn Chesher as the club’s leading men’s First XV appearance-maker and Hayley Hodgson as the highest recorded points scorer for the women’s Wasps team.
The archive brings together more than a century of senior-team history. It was published on 23 August 2026, updated on 24 August, and is intended to give current players, former members and supporters one reference point for senior appearances and scoring achievements.
However, the club has warned that some of the women’s records remain provisional while historical research continues. That means the published totals, particularly in the Wasps records, could change if further information is found.
Glenn Chesher leads Kendal’s First XV appearances
Chesher is listed with 243 First XV appearances. The men’s appearance table covers matches from 1905 through to the end of the 2025 season, putting his total three matches ahead of Matt Houghton, who is credited with 240 appearances.
Alistair Thompson is third in the table with 200 appearances, followed by Reece Tomlinson on 183 and Dini Noyo on 157. The archive combines long-serving club members with players from more recent senior sides, reflecting changes in Kendal’s teams and competitions over the years.
Aaron Stephens tops the men’s scoring table
Chesher’s appearance milestone is separate from the men’s First XV scoring rankings. Aaron Stephens leads that list with 361 points from 78 appearances.
Stephens’ total consists of 12 tries, nine conversions and 53 penalties. Houghton is second with 320 points, while Noyo is third on 295. Evan Moir is listed with 227 points from 25 appearances, including 16 tries, three conversions and two penalties. Ollie Rose completes the leading men’s scorers with 140 points from 42 appearances.
Hayley Hodgson heads the recorded Wasps points
The women’s records cover the 2013/14 campaign through to the 2025/26 season. Hodgson is the leading recorded points scorer with 734 points, made up of 140 tries and 17 conversions.
She is third in the Wasps’ appearance table with 109 matches. Aimee Sharp leads that ranking with 125 appearances, followed by Sarah Wilkinson on 110.
Wilkinson is second in the recorded points table with 270, while Tamar Benson is third on 253. The figures should be read alongside the club’s warning that the archive combines entries from the Wasps’ first listed campaign in 2013/14 with newer information from the 2025/26 season.
Unless later research changes the totals, Chesher’s 243 First XV appearances and Hodgson’s recorded 734 Wasps points are the headline milestones in Kendal Rugby Club’s newly published archive.
