A new historical archive from Kendal Rugby Club has identified two major milestones in the club’s senior-team history, while warning that parts of the women’s record may still change as research continues.
Glenn Chesher is listed as Kendal’s leading men’s First XV appearance-maker, with 243 matches. Hayley Hodgson is the highest recorded points scorer for the women’s Wasps team, with 734 points.
The archive was published on 23 August 2026 and updated on 24 August. It brings together more than a century of senior rugby history in one reference point for current players, former members and supporters interested in appearances and scoring achievements.
Chesher leads Kendal’s men’s appearance list
Chesher’s 243 First XV appearances place him three matches ahead of Matt Houghton, who is listed with 240. Alistair Thompson is third on 200 appearances, followed by Reece Tomlinson on 183 and Dini Noyo on 157.
The men’s appearance table covers matches from 1905 through to the end of the 2025 season. Its rankings bring together long-serving club members and players from more recent senior sides, reflecting changes to Kendal’s teams and competitions over the years.
Chesher’s appearance record is separate from the men’s First XV scoring table. Aaron Stephens leads that ranking with 361 points from 78 appearances. His total comprises 12 tries, nine conversions and 53 penalties.
Houghton is second among the leading men’s scorers with 320 points, while Noyo is third on 295. Evan Moir is listed with 227 points from 25 appearances, including 16 tries, three conversions and two penalties. Ollie Rose completes the leading five with 140 points from 42 appearances.
Hodgson tops the recorded Wasps points table
The women’s records cover the 2013/14 campaign through to the 2025/26 season. Hodgson’s recorded total of 734 points consists of 140 tries and 17 conversions.
She is third in the Wasps’ appearance table with 109 matches. Aimee Sharp leads that ranking with 125 appearances, followed by Sarah Wilkinson on 110. Wilkinson is second in the recorded points table with 270, and Tamar Benson is third with 253.
The figures combine entries from the Wasps’ first listed campaign in 2013/14 with newer information from the 2025/26 season. Kendal Rugby Club says historical research is continuing, so published totals—particularly in the Wasps tables—could change if further information is discovered.
Until revisions are made, the archive identifies Chesher’s 243 First XV appearances and Hodgson’s recorded 734 Wasps points as its principal senior-team milestones.
