Kendal Rugby Union Football Club has opened its record books to publish a detailed history of senior-team performances spanning more than a century. Glenn Chesher is listed as the club’s leading First XV appearance-maker, while Hayley Hodgson heads the recorded points table for the Wasps.

The newly published tables are intended to provide current players, former members and supporters with a reference point for Kendal Rugby Club’s history. They bring together records from different eras, while also acknowledging that some of the women’s team statistics may not yet be complete.

Chesher leads Kendal’s First XV appearances

The First XV appearance records cover the period from 1905 through to the end of the 2025 season. Chesher tops the table with 243 matches, putting him three appearances ahead of Matt Houghton, who is recorded with 240.

Alistair Thompson is third on 200 appearances, followed by Reece Tomlinson on 183 and Dini Noyo on 157. The list combines long-serving club members with players from more recent Kendal senior teams.

Aaron Stephens leads the published First XV scoring table with 361 points from 78 appearances. His total comprises 12 tries, nine conversions and 53 penalties. Houghton is second with 320 points, while Noyo is third with 295.

Evan Moir is recorded with 227 points from 25 appearances, including 16 tries, three conversions and two penalties. Ollie Rose completes the listed leading scorers with 140 points from 42 appearances.

Hodgson tops the recorded Wasps points list

The Wasps records run from the 2013/14 campaign to the 2025/26 season. Aimee Sharp is the leading recorded appearance-maker with 125 matches, followed by Sarah Wilkinson with 110. Hodgson is listed third for appearances, with 109.

Hodgson also leads the recorded Wasps points table, with 734 points from 140 tries and 17 conversions. Wilkinson is second with 270 points, followed by Tamar Benson on 253.

The club says the Wasps information combines entries from the team’s first listed campaign in 2013/14 with newer material from the 2025/26 season. It has warned that the underlying records may be incomplete, meaning the totals could change if more historical material is found.

Records leave room for future updates

Downloadable documents now include Wasps appearance and scoring records from 2013/14 to 2025/26. They sit alongside combined First XV appearance and scoring tables covering the period from 1905 to 2026.

The publication gives Kendal Rugby Club a foundation for recognising leading players and expanding its historical archive. Until further research changes the figures, Chesher’s 243 First XV appearances and Hodgson’s recorded 734 Wasps points stand as the headline milestones in the newly published records.
