Kendal Rugby Union Football Club has opened its record books to publish a detailed history of senior-team performances stretching across more than a century. The newly released tables place Glenn Chesher at the top of the First XV appearance list and Hayley Hodgson as the leading recorded points scorer for the Wasps.
The records are intended to give current players, former members and supporters a reference point for the club’s history. They bring together information from different periods, while making clear that the women’s team statistics may not yet be complete.
Chesher leads more than a century of First XV records
The First XV appearance records cover the years from 1905 through to the end of the 2025 season. Chesher leads with 243 matches, three ahead of Matt Houghton, who is recorded with 240 appearances.
Alistair Thompson is third on 200 appearances, followed by Reece Tomlinson on 183 and Dini Noyo on 157. The published list includes both long-serving Kendal club members and players from more recent senior teams.
Aaron Stephens heads the First XV scoring table with 361 points from 78 appearances. His total includes 12 tries, nine conversions and 53 penalties. Houghton is second with 320 points, while Noyo is third with 295.
Evan Moir is listed with 227 points from 25 appearances, comprising 16 tries, three conversions and two penalties. Ollie Rose completes the leading published scorers with 140 points from 42 appearances.
Hodgson tops the recorded Wasps points table
The Wasps records cover the 2013/14 campaign to the 2025/26 season. Aimee Sharp is the leading recorded appearance-maker with 125 matches, followed by Sarah Wilkinson with 110. Hodgson is third in the appearances list, with 109.
Hodgson also leads the recorded Wasps points table. She is listed with 734 points from 140 tries and 17 conversions. Wilkinson is second with 270 points, followed by Tamar Benson on 253.
Kendal Rugby Club says the Wasps information combines entries from the team’s first listed campaign in 2013/14 with newer material from the 2025/26 season. It has warned that the underlying records may be incomplete, so the totals could change if additional historical material is found.
Archive remains open to future updates
Downloadable documents now include Wasps appearance and scoring records for 2013/14 to 2025/26. They sit alongside combined First XV appearance and scoring tables covering the period from 1905 to 2026.
The publication gives the club a foundation for recognising leading players and developing its historical archive. Unless further research changes the figures, Chesher’s 243 First XV appearances and Hodgson’s recorded 734 Wasps points are the headline milestones in the newly published records.
