Kendal Rugby Union Football Club has published a detailed set of senior-team appearance and scoring records stretching across more than a century, putting Glenn Chesher at the top of the First XV appearance list and Hayley Hodgson first among the recorded Wasps points scorers.

The tables cover the club’s First XV and Wasps teams and are intended to provide a reference point for current and former players, supporters and the wider Kendal rugby community. However, the club has cautioned that some Wasps records may be incomplete, so totals could change if further historical material is found.

Chesher leads a century of First XV appearances

The First XV appearance records run from 1905 to the end of the 2025 season. Chesher leads with 243 matches, just three ahead of Matt Houghton, who is listed on 240.

Alistair Thompson is third with 200 appearances, followed by Reece Tomlinson on 183 and Dini Noyo on 157. The list brings together players from several eras of Kendal Rugby Club’s history, including long-serving players and more recent members of the senior team.

Houghton also features among the leading First XV scorers, but Aaron Stephens tops that table with 361 points from 78 appearances. His total includes 12 tries, nine conversions and 53 penalties.

Houghton is second on 320 points, while Noyo is third with 295. Evan Moir has 227 points from 25 appearances, including 16 tries, three conversions and two penalties. Ollie Rose completes the listed leading scorers with 140 points from 42 appearances.

Wasps figures are published with a warning

The Wasps statistics cover the 2013/14 campaign through to 2025/26. Aimee Sharp is the leading recorded appearance-maker with 125 matches. Sarah Wilkinson follows with 110, while Hodgson is listed on 109 appearances.

Hodgson also leads the Wasps scoring table, with 734 points from 140 tries and 17 conversions. Wilkinson is second on 270 points and Tamar Benson follows with 253.

The club says the Wasps information combines entries from the team’s first listed campaign in 2013/14 with newer material from the 2025/26 season. Because the underlying records may not be complete, additional research could alter the figures already published.

A record for future updates

Downloadable documents now include Wasps appearance and scoring records from 2013/14 to 2025/26, alongside combined First XV appearance and scoring tables covering the period from 1905 to 2026.

The publication creates a starting point for recognising Kendal’s leading players and leaves room for future updates if more Wasps records are discovered and added. For now, Chesher’s 243 First XV appearances and Hodgson’s recorded 734 Wasps points stand as the headline figures in the club’s newly published historical tables.
